In this ranking, the lower you are -- assuming a good education is gained, obviously -- the better. Any graduate studies in basket-weaving or liberal arts will not count, kids.
I think it is reasonable to encourage students to go for a practical degree, no matter what their interests are. If one has a solid foundation, then it beats an impractical education with no jobs at the other end. Make the msot of the college experience -- classes, activities, and such things as internships and industry connections.
Personality, work ethic, intellectual curiosity, intellectual capabilities, vigor, and a variety of other factors beyond one's educational degrees determine who and what we become. And those things determine who we are far more than the education we receive. Remember that. Don't expect something from college -- demand things from yourself and others while in college. There are plenty of intellectual idiots in the world. don't become one.
The College Board released a report Wednesday ranking Florida 45th nationwide in average cost to attend a public university. The average tuition is $5,626, 11.8 percent higher than last year.
Last year, Florida ranked 48th nationwide. Despite the increase in cost, Florida's average tuition is still below the national average of $8,244, an increase of 8.3 percent.
